Frequently asked questions

Q: Has the Jim Nelson Memorial Trout Pond Been Stocked?

A: The Devon Fish and Game stocks the pond twice a year in the spring and fall as fish are available from the hatchery. The pond is also aerated year round to avoid winter kill. We also believe in fair chase angling practices and as a result, we do not release stocking dates.

Q: Is the Jim Nelson Memorial Trout Pond Open to the Public?

A: Yes, the pond is open to the public year round under regular Alberta Fishing Regulations. Please avoid the south end of the pond during the ice fishing season as the aeration makes the ice too thin to walk on. Please also avoid drilling holes in our dock which is kept in the pond year round.

Q: What do I do with injured or orphaned wildlife?

A: You can call WILDNorth Wildlife Rescue & Rehab at 780-914-4118
